The Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korea Foundation present the 2016 Athens Korean Film Festival at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation (Peiraios 206, Tavros 177 78) from 18 April to 20 April. The Festival includes three distinguished movies with greek subtitles -a crime thriller, a comedy and a romance-drama (2014, 2013 and 2011).
The admission during the opening night (Monday 18th of April 2016, at 19:30) is possible only with invitations provided by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea – (gremb@mofa.go.kr).
The admission is free for the next two films: Secretly, Greatly on Tuesday 19th of April 2016, at 20:00 and “Always”, on Wednesday 20th of April 2016, at 20:00. Reservation is required: tel. 210 34.18.579, Mon-Fr 11:00-14:00.

Detective Go Geon-soo is having a hard day, and the following events happen to him in less than 24 hours: He receives a divorce notice from his wife. His mother passes away. He and his coworkers are investigated by police inspectors over alleged embezzlement. Then on his way to his mother’s funeral, he drives recklessly and commits a fatal hit and run. He tries to cover-up the accident by hiding the man’s corpse in his deceased mother’s coffin. But someone has been watching all along, and Geon-soo gets a mysterious call from a person claiming that he was the sole witness to the crime, who now begins to threaten him.

Secretly, Greatly is a 2013 South Korean action comedy-drama film starring Kim Soo-hyun, Park Ki-woong, and Lee Hyun-woo, who play North Korean spies who infiltrate South Korea as a village idiot, a rock musician, and a high school student, respectively. They assimilate to small town life while awaiting their orders, until one day, due to a sudden power shift in the North, their mission turns out to be an order to commit suicide.

Always is a South Korean film directed by Song Il-gon. Starring So Ji-sub and Han Hyo-joo in the lead roles, it is about a romance between an ex-boxer who has closed his heart to the world and a telemarketer who remains spirited despite slowly going blind.
