The Michael Cacoyannis Foundation and the Dance Association return for a third consecutive year with a – new choreographic workshop – suggestion aimed at the wider intercultural society of Athens. Entitled Dancing with somebody else, the workshops main goal is the cultivation of a social and spiritual connection with the identity of the European citizen, the youths of different nationalities living in Greece. Through dance and through the process of creating a choreography, the Workshop sets subjects of mutual understanding, cooperation, creativity and initiative. The Workshop is funded by the Foundation for Youth and Lifelong Learning National Service and the General Secretariat for Youth within the framework of the co-financed Programme of the E.E. Youth in Action.

The Michael Cacoyannis Foundation and the choreographers of the Dance Association invite young people and generally people of all nationalities and ages, who are living in Greece, (first, second and third generation immigrants who have come from European countries or elsewhere, as well as Greeks) to take part in the creation of a performance through the process of this workshop. They will be introduced to movement and contemporary dance, gaining the experience of creating a performance and above all via an artistic action which allows them to take part in a unique dialogue concerning identity and social consciousness, overcoming any racial and language differences.

During this years programme, as with previous years, the participants will be divided into 6 groups, each of which will be choreographed by 6 different choreographers. The goal is, within 9 days of rehearsals, each group must produce a choreography, following the instructions of each choreographer. Following this, all the participants and the choreographers will meet on stage to bring together the choreographies they created.

The results of this collective workshop will be presented in a performance which will be open to the public entitled One way ticket, on Saturday December 13th 2014, at 12:00, with free entry at the Theatre Hall of the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.
