Bicycle Film Festival… for the first time in Greece
Athens joins the metropolitan cities of the world and everything starts to move around a common goal on two wheels. Michael Cacoyannis Foundation participates in the biggest celebration for the bicycle friends and welcomes, for the first time in Greece, the Bicycle Film Festival, an international festival, at its 10th anniversary of presence in the global cultural proceedings.
Music, fashion, visual arts and mainly cinema embrace the contemporary bicycle culture and get inspiration by the most increasingly popular of the transportation means, for the modern, urban way of life, globally.
At the halls of the Foundations Cultural Center, on Saturday & Sunday, November 13th & 14th, we will all have the opportunity to watch an extraordinarily interesting program of films, while on Thursday, November 11th will take place the official opening for the visual exhibition SPOKED!, which has bicycle as main subject as well as inspiration. Simultaneously, on Sunday November 14th, MCF presents its normal program and gets into the nowadays mood presenting the special pre-election puppet-theatre performance, The Polling Booth with free entrance for the audience interested in, by the puppet theatre groups FTOUXELEFTERIA and TSIRKOLELETA.
BICYCLE FILM FESTIVAL
Bicycle Film Festival is an international cultural festival having bicycle as main subject. It was initiated in New York 10 years ago aiming to celebrate the rising bicycle culture through music, fashion, cinema and the arts.
Now on, Bicycle Film Festival travels to more than 30 countries all around the globe annually. From November 11th until November 14th is going to visit for the first time Athens, with an extraordinary program that includes screenings, bicycle-rides, bicycle-races, BMX-shows, parties, concerts and a visual arts exhibition having bicycle as subject as well as inspiration. The exhibition will be held in Michael Cacoyannis Foundation with well-known artists participating.
The main part of the festival will be the selective screenings program, that this year includes films like: Birth Of Big Air in a production of Spike Jonze devoted to the legend of BMX, Matt Hoffmann, “Riding the Long White Cloud for a company of pro skateboarders with a skate trip with bicycles, “Line of Sight devoted to the legend of alleycat races, Lucas Brunelle, “Cyclocross Meeting for those who love mud as well as the highly expected fixed gear film Empire.
