The bright side of life

Screenings and an ehhibition etsi for the environment

Michael Cacoyannis Foundation collaborates with Rodοs International Films+Visual Arts Festival Ecofilms and its Art Director, the director Loukia Rikaki and presents a two-days screenings event on September 14 and 15- dedicated to the environment. A number of short films will be presented, which, as Loukia Rikaki notes were screened at Rodos Ecofilms and constitute the suggestions of independent filmmakers who illuminate the bright side of life, offer creative solutions for our disengagement from the crisis and underline the most significant values of our being. Films that not only signify the filmmakers agony for the planets future, but also for the human relationships and whose topics cover a wide range of ecological and social problems.
The screenings complement in their own way the unique exhibition under the title etsi for the environment by the visual artist and creator of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games emblem Rodanthi Senduka and the participation of the viual artist Harry Lambert, the designer Vasilia and the ceramicist Christina Morali which takes place at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation from 9 September to 10 October. The exhibition includes painting works, sketches and useful handmade objects made of recycled or environmental friendly materials. Apart from their natural exhibition, their swinging holograms will be projected on screens. The exhibition aims at a new way of thinking and acting concerning the protection of the natural environment not only because of the use of technology as an ecological medium in generating and presenting arts, but also because it evaluates every piece of art in its environmental equivalent.
