ECOCITY 2010 PRIZE AWARD

THE NIGHT OF WEDNESDAY, 2ND OF JUNE 2010

A night full of excellence for prominent Scientists, Scientific Institutions, Municipalities, Business Corporations, Organisations as well as Mass Media, which have presented significant work during 2009, for the protection of the environment. The event that is being prepared by the director Nikos Krontiras and a remarkable partners team, will take place at Theatre Hall of the Foundation.

The evaluation committee for the ECOCITY 2010 awards, in which individuals from the academic, environmental, communication, visual and private enterprise sectors are participating, will complete the evaluation process and reach the final choices the last day of May 2010.

The statuette for this year prize award, is being created with recycled glass that is inspired and designed by the artist, Christos Michael Papandropoulos.

The ECOCITY awards is being organized for 6 years on end, by the Non-Profit Voluntary Organization concerned with the Urban Environment, Ecocity and rewards the environmental undertaking as well as contribution, aiming to create the circumstances for a sustainable society where the dominant values are the respect to the Environment and the Quality of Life.

The organizing process for the ECOCITY 2010 Awards Ceremony is being supported by the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation and the companies AVAKON and AVITRON. Communication Sponsors are the FLASH 96 radio, the APOGEVMATINI newspaper, the magazines AD BUSINESS, REVIEW CSR and ECOTEC.

ECOCITY is a voluntary nonprofit organization which aims are the improvement of the quality of life within urban Environments and orientation towards sustainable cities, the sensitization, development and cultivation of Environmental consciences, as far as environmental problems are concerned, as well as the establishment of behaviors friendly to the Environment.

The ECOCITY awards enhance with moral motivation those who realize the necessity for commitment, contribute, promote, and cultivate the collective concern as well as show in fact environmental conscience.
