Significant Premieres at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation throughout May
Michael Cacoyannis Foundation presence in the citys cultural proceedings is going to be apparently fresh, as new performances are integrated in the program for May 2010. Not long before Summer 2010, the Foundation hosts significant premiers of Theater, Contemporary Dance and Dance Theater, Theater Class, Music Concerts as well as Cinema, while an exhibition of photography by House of Cyprus, dedicated to Michael Cacoyannis, after its extension, will keep being open for the audience. In parallel, the performances by Fresh Target Theater Productions with the site specific performance New World Order in three one-act texts by Harold Pinter and directed by Paris Erotokritou, will keep being presented in May.

“The Wastrel” (1961) A film of Michael Cacoyannis – Archive Film Premiere of the Restored Copy in Greece
Michael Cacoyannis Foundation presents for the first time in Greece, the film The Wastrel directed by Michael Cacoyannis with Ellie Lambeti in the leading role.
Music for the stage Live with Stavros Gasparatos
In May 3rd, Stavros Gasparatos, in collaboration with the Cultural Affairs Department of the Municipality of Patras and the Municipal and Regional Theatre of Patras, presents a concert in two parts in Michael Cacoyannis Foundation. In the first part, material from his solo release album Rehearsals (a selection of music pieces for theater and dance) will be presented live, and the second part will be consisted of a series of new unreleased tracks, composed by Stavros Gasparatos, that are going to be presented for the first time in this concert.
Tales of Mystery and Horror from Japan- Buzz Productions Theater
Following, the button passes to Buzz Productions Theater company which presents in Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, from May 6th, the performance Tales of Mystery and Horror from Japan, a fresh and experimental discourse dramaturgic approach of Narration in Theater Plays, focusing on popular tales of mystery and horror, directed by the Cypriot artist Philippos Philippou.
With2Feet – 5 Contemporary Dance & Dance Theater Performances
From 5th till 9th of May, Van Dog Event Group presents performances of Contemporary dance & Dance theatre at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation Theatre.
A solo performance by Yannis Karounis (Orbital), a duet by Ted Stoffer (In a landscape), a trio by Jozsef Csaba Hajzer (S.K.I.N.S.) , a choreography with eight dancers by Athanasia Kanelopoulou (Shadows of Nothing) and a dance theatre performance by Paracoon Compnay (the Night), are presented in such a way as to project a wide perspective of contemporary dance art.
The performances are divided in two parts. On the first two days, the 5th and 6th of May, With2Feet presents the show entitled the Night.
On the 7th, 8th and 9th of May the second part is being presented with contemporary choreographies by Ted Stoffer (U.S.A.), Jozsef Csaba Hajzer (Hungary), a Greek who lives and works abroad, Athanasia Kanelopoulou and Yiannis Karounis. Those four acts aim to merge different schools and dance art forms through the approach of different choreographers with standards and experiences that originate from different countries.
- Shakespeares Villains by Steven Berkoff
Attiki Cultural Society carrying on Theatre beyond Boundaries presents in 18th, 19th & 20th of May 2010 in Theatre of Michael Cacoyannis Foundation the performance Shakespeares Villains by Steven Berkoff. It is a Theatre Class by the famous and awarded writer, actor and director who carries his personal success from the London as well as the international stage for the first time in Athens. Shakespeares villain heroes through the writers original texts are being presented and commented by Steven Berkoff. After every performance, Steven Berkoff answers the audience’s questions.

- New World Order – Fresh Target Theatre
New World Order, a subversive site specific performance is going to be presented by Fresh Target Theatre Ensemble in the 2nd Underground Floor of the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation Cultural Centers Parking Place throughout May 2010 as well. In parallel, in the same space and during the same period pictorial artworks by important Greek and foreign artists are being exhibited as a structural element of the performance, with the kind allowance of The DESTE Foundation for Contemporary Art, as well as works by Marikita Manolopoulou.
In fact, it is a compilation of three one-act-plays by Harold Pinter (The New World Order, One for the Road, Press Conference) translated by Errikos Belies and directed by Paris Erotokritou. All of the three texts can be identified for their criticizing view over the governmental physical as well as mental violence, forced by the ostensible democratic, totalitarian regimes.

The exhibition includes photographic portraits of Michael Cacoyannis and photographs of his directing career.
