On Tuesday the 20th of October 2009, at 7 p.m., the work of George Harvalias The Events Horizon a visual arts proposal is presented at the -2 level underground garage of the Cultural Centre POLYTROPON of the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, Piraeus 206, Tavros.
The exhibition is organized by Batagianni Gallery.
Duration: 20 October – 5 December 2009.
Visiting hours: Monday – Friday 12 p.m.-8 p.m. / Saturday – Sunday 12 p.m.-3 p.m.
The Events Horizon is an installation of combined media, the outcome of the artists work the last two years (2007-2009). The work has been realized with the artistic cooperation of the sculptor Fotis Raftopoulos.
The work consists of two parts:
1. 26 June 2009, Share Rates Panel of the Stock Market of Athens (2007-2009). Installation, data wall, 2,28 x 10,62 m.
2. Nuit Américaine (2007-2009). Video-installation, two synchronous projections HD, 4916, 2,50 x 8,65 m.
The continuous vertical flux of the alternating share rates of the Stock Market of Athens, which is the simulacrum of an incorporeal war, is intersecting with the horizontal movement of the account of its material implications.
Thus, in the mediate space between the spectator and the work condensates the horizon inside which, the awareness of the tragic aspect of the events leads us to the comprehension of reality.
