Moving Image

Moving Image

Michael Cacoyannis Foundation launches cooperation with the Athens School of Fine Arts introducing the Moving Image project. In cooperation with the Postgraduate Programme in Digital Arts, the Foundation organises night projections of young artists films, students and graduates of the Postgraduate Programme.

The Moving Image project is aiming in creating a meeting point where public projections of young artists films, open discussions, exchange of ideas and experiences between young artists and the viewers (mainly young artists that use video or film as a medium, students of relative schools, art critics etc) can be achieved.

Our time is characterized by exceeding production, reproduction and circulation of information. While everybody has possible access to everything (internet, media), attention as well as the critical ability is scarce. Between the abundance of information and the scarcity of attention lies the structure of meaning(1). The Moving Image project aspires to create a core that focuses on the artistic works of the young and promotes immediate dialogue and questioning about the works but also the process of creativity itself. So beyond the public projection of the films, theres an underline sense of the education process, in which anyway the works where created in the first place.
