RED SPEEDO by Lucas Hnath. Directed by: Vasilis Myrianthopoulos

A deep and agonizing dive into the dark and dangerous waters of doping…
How far might someone go in order to win?  What is the price on ethics?

Through the choices, actions and consciousness of his characters, set in the world of competitive swimming, the writer, Lucas Hnath, has created a contemporary play focusing upon ethics, creating an intense and edgy drama about relationships which are destroyed by ambition, dope, and the taste of success and steeped in fear for survival.

Four characters, each with their own complexities, weaknesses,  and the need for success no matter the cost, are flung into a dark game of choices and they are proof that in such a game no conscience remains clear.

Red Speedo was first staged at an Off Broadway Theatre in New York in 2016, winning the OBIE and Outer Critics Circle Award.

During eighty nail-biting minutes of constant twists in the plot, the play offers its own powerful answers and asks its own questions about the price of ethics in the race for success, using a language which is contemporary and intense.

Set in five acts of escalating intensity, as the finish line comes into sight, it is doubtful whether a winner truly exists.
