A theatrical and audiovisual platform

The Michael Cacoyannis Foundation has decided to set up a “black box” which functions like that of an airplane, recording vital information which can be used to ascertain the conditions under which an “accident” might have taken place.  The accident, in our case, refers to our times, our lives, to us, the people of Athens, and our stories.  Stories which, through images, theatre and music, and thanks to the sensitivity of the writer, the creative zeal of the director and the labour of the actor, have risen to the surface and are exposed to the public eye.

 

We shared the concept – proposal, the subject of which is “the coming of age” with artists we admire.  “The Coming of Age”:  of a person, of society, of the country we live in.  Not necessarily the coming of age of the adolescent, nor the maturation of a person, from a carefree period without responsibilities, into new, uncertain and demanding conditions.  We are talking more about a transformation from the security of an orderly microcosm into the acceptance of an uncomfortable and clumsy landing into a reality which, perhaps, up until now, had been unknown or at least purposefully ignored.  Perhaps this is also the quest for an identity, but again, not only a personal one, but that of an entire society.

Some of us based our stories on this concept and some of us simply went through our own coming of age, unfolding our own personal tale.
What we are about to see will be unveiled via the “black box” through a series of theatrical performances and we invite you to come and be witness to our discoveries.
