Diary of a Madman

Diary of a Madman

A great play, as perceived today by the director and actor who returns to the stage after 17 years to play Gogol’s hero, Poprischin.

Sotiris Chatzakis states that although he is returning to acting, he never really left.  “The Actor always was and always will be the centre of my theatrical universe.  I initially worked as a director, from the vantage point of the actor.  For too long did I not hide in the wings?  It’s time now to come out into the light of the stage, for now, it is there where the real action takes place.”

“The Diary of a Madman” is a play that is as timely as every for Greece of today. The great existential comedy meets with the freedom of introspection and the little person with great expectations takes to the stage dressed as a clown.
