Panos Karan – Piano Recital for «Petagma»

Panos Karan, an internationally renowned pianist will introduce the play «ETUDES EXTRAVAGANZA» by Frédéric Chopin. 24 miniature plays, each one of which demands a different degree of expertise. It may be one of the most difficult works for solo piano and the performance is a rare and unique event for the pianist and the audience.

Greek born concert pianist Panos Karan, received his musical education at the Royal Academy of Music and made his professional debut in the South Bank Centre, London at age 19. In 2007 Panos presented the complete cycle of the Beethoven Concertos and in December 2009 he recorded his debut album with Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 3. In 2015 he performed at Tokyo Opera City at the presence of HIM Empress Michiko of Japan.

Recent performances have included the Boston Symphony Hall, Vienna Konzerthaus, the Tokyo Suntory Hall, the Athens Megaron Hall, the St. Petersburg Hermitage Theatre, Queen Elizabeth Hall as well as three solo recitals at Carnegie Hall.
In September 2010 Panos founded the charity Organization Keys of Change with the aim of sharing classical music in the most remote areas of our planet.  Projects have taken him to the Amazon, Japan, India, Siberia, Uganda, Bosnia and Sierra Leone with the belief in its core that playing music can make this world a better place.  Playing music is one of the simplest yet strongest ways for individuals around the world to build bridges for peace and make a positive social change. Keys of Change also aims to promote and establish musical education and its benefits in remote areas around the world.

Known for his charitable work Panos Karan is giving a Piano Recital for “PETAGMA”, a Non-Profitable Organization, which was established in 2002 by parents of children with mental disabilities in order to secure them a life with dignity and respect for their special needs. At the moment it runs 2 Houses of Supported Living in Agia Paraskevi with 24hour support by expertise stuff, so that the supported Young Adults can have a life with interests, choices and be included in the community. This year “PETAGMA” plans to establish a 3rd house. The organization considers it is very important to provide quality in services and everyday life.
