Music of the World |Concert by National Conservatory of Nea Smyrni
The National Conservatory of Nea Smyrni is organizing a summer concert on Thursday 30 June 2016, at 19:00, generally entitled Music of the World. The event can be described as a musical wandering, a journey which aims at the respect and appreciation of cultural diversity, elements which are crucial to modern society and which the art of music, in its universal dimension, has the ability to express by bringing down boarders. This journey includes traditional compositions which have remained untouched by the passing of time, as well as compositions inspired by the particular musical traditions of far-flung locations. Works and songs from Japan, China, India, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Hungary, France, Italy, Poland, England, Spain, Ireland, Belgium, Russia, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, America, Cyprus and Greece will be interpreted.
The National Conservatory of Nea Smyrni was founded in 1974. As of the term of 2002-03 it runs under the composer professor of music theory, Andreas Argyrou, as Artistic Director, along with a select team of music teachers and soloists. It soon became one of the most important music educational organizations of the country as well as a cultural institution which is a leader in the organization of a wide range of cultural events. Faithful to its goals and the vision of its founder, the great composer and founder of the National School of Music, Manolis Kalomoiris, the National Conservatory of Nea Smyrni is a shining example of the provision of high quality musical education for all ages and all types of music; Classical, Traditional, and Modern.
