11 artists, in an initiative by George Chatzipavlou, join forces and talent to present the biggest Stand up Comedy event of the year. Their goal is to assist the work of UNICEF and to spread smiles and hope to children all over the world. Stand up for U has become an established event. The charitable comedy marathon, which hosts the top stand up comedians from Greece and the U.K., is being organized for the third consecutive year, on the 13th and 14th of May 2016.

 

The idea started the year before last when George Chatzipavlou felt the need to offer hope and active support to children in need. This venture was warmly embraced by the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation and many comedians. George Chatzipavlou, in a previous interview, had stated: “I was thinking that children are actually the weakest citizens in the world and they depend entirely upon us. We should constantly be striving to do something for them. When I learned how many children we managed to help last year, through this initiative, I had the sweetest night’s sleep of my life.”And his dream continued through to the next year:  Last year the performances were sold out, just two days after the presale began. The proceeds from all 1.200 tickets were donated entirely to the “Godparent for UNICEF” program.

 

This year, the event will be taking place once again, with greater energy and greater optimism. During these two evenings, 12 artists “equipped” with their talent will be offering the gift of laughter, emotion and, ultimately, hope – a gift of life to children who are denied even life’s most basics.

 

The following comedians will be presenting the best moments of their performances (in alphabetical order): Stelios Anatolitis, Dimitris Dimopoulos, Byron Theodoropoulos, Hera Katsouda, Michalis mathioudakis, Andreas Paspatis, Aristotelis Rigas, Aliki Tsakoumi, Lambros Fisfis and George Chatzipavlou. Joining them, for the first time in Greece, the great British comedian, Ben Norris of the Comedy Store in London.
