Open Rehearsals and seminars with Thanasis Polikandriotis

Every week the rehearsals of the composer Thanasis Polikandriotis and the Bouzouki Group “OI EPOMENOI” are housed at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, where they study and exchange ideas about the bouzouki and our folk music tradition. Since 1993, when he created the bouzouki group, Thanasis Polykandriotis’ ultimate goal has been to share and instill in the new generation the love he has for the bouzouki and as such to unite those people who are truly passionate about the folk music tradition of this country.

Every Monday, 12:00 – 15:00, the open rehearsals (-seminars for the public) continue, aiming at the better preparation of the musical ensemble. The participants may follow the rehearsals simply as spectators or, if they play a particular instrument, they may join in! On the 28th of December 2015, at the end of the tribute-concert for Tsitsanis and Papaioannou, Thanasis Polykandriotis announced the next event with the “Epomenoi” group; a tribute to the classics. The group will interpret pieces from the classical and contemporary scene. With hundreds of hours of study and rehearsal they will once again be on their way for the very special concert in December of 2016, to be hosted again by their very own MCF.
