“Green Project in South America: A travelogue” | Exhibition of environmental photography

 
The exhibition of environmental photography “Green Project in South America: a travelogue” will open at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation on Friday, 5th of June 2015, at 20:00 at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation by the Vice-president of the Foundation, Mrs. Xenia Kaldara and the President of the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO, Mrs. Ekaterini Tzitzikosta.
 
13 wayfarers of the Green Project will be participating in the Exhibition, (in alphabetical order): Tilemachos Andrianopoulos, Giorgos Asimakopoulos, Athanasia Varaki, Costas Vardas, Sophia Dasyra, Simoni Zafeiropoulou, Dimitra Zirou, Vasiliki Kasoumi, Angelos Katsangelos, Dimitris Kouletsis, Ioanna Lemoni, Giannis Tzortzis and Katerina Charterou. The project is supervised by George Asimakopoulos.
 
The 33 exhibited photographs focus on the environment in the broader sense of the meaning (urban and natural) and are distinguished for the undoctored, clear view of the travelers of the Green Project, who believe in the power of photography to change our world. The photographs are personal accounts of a journey from Bogotá to the Tierra del Fuego, 17.135 km, 52 days, 8 countries (Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile).
 
From the 19th of July until the 7th of September 2014, 51 areas of green interest were captured in images in terms of their geodiversity, biodiversity, renewable sources of energy, the UNESCO World Heritage Monuments, but also in relation to simple everyday life. The exhibition of environmental photography  will be hosted by the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation from the 5th until the 30th of June 2015. Free entrance.
 
On Friday, 5th of June 2015, at 12:00, the President and Executive Board of the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO and the “Green Project” organization will be holding a conference in celebration of World Environment Day 2015, with the subject “Challenges for Greece and Opportunities for a Sustainable Future”, which will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (“Kranidiotis” Amphitheatre, 1 Akadimias street, Athens).
