Poet: “A renaissance is starting. An unexpected renaissance sharply blew over people’s massacres, unconcerned about those massacres…

The new kind of humans is about to come. A new race. The elders and these terrified people must disappear.”

Woman: “I don’t love art. Art is dangerous for life. Nothing can be compared with life. But I have respected his relation with art. He had no life outside of art, no other way of living. How many times did I feel sad about it… loving a man makes him glorious.”

Colour Group and the director Constantinos Hatzis present, after their successful debut in the Greek Festival, the performance “The King of Asia” at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, from October, 20th to November, 25th 2014.

The script is written by Constantinos Hatzis, who has combined phrases from the whole prose and translation work of Giorgos Cheimonas.

The performance raises the direct and continuous relationship between the Creator and his Creation. Lydia Koniordou, will “commune” and “battle” – once as a literal character and once as a real existence – with the Poet, who will be played by Vangelis Papadakis.

Original music for the performance will be composed by Nikos Xydakis.

Before spectators enter the hall of the performance, a video art (directed by the artist and sculptor Katerina Athanasiou) inspired from the prose of Giorgos Cheimonas, will be projected in a specially adapted place. In this video art, the spectators will be listening the voice of writer Zyranna Zateli, reading the first part of the “Builders”, written by Giorgos Cheimonas.
