For only 9 performances

The awarded monologue by Vasilia Diminidou “STATEMENT OF THE SOUL” will be presented at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation from Friday 3rd October until Sunday 19th October, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for only 9 performances.

A monologue with Vasilia Diminidou, based upon real events, which discusses the balance between life and death, the existent and the non existent, the internal conflict between that which ‘is’ and that which ‘appears to be’, directed by Zacharias Rochas.

“Loneliness within a marriage is worse than any other kind. Did you know that? How would you know… You don’t have the time to feel lonely amongst your many responsibilities… I long for the embrace of a man… Does an embrace have limits?”

An everyday woman in a performance about a “Statement of the Soul”. Her aim is to break the silent agreement which came about through the years of her marriage, pushing the emotions buried there to surface to the height of social awareness. The distress caused by having to live within such an agreement and the tragic consequences of a sudden death…

Statements which attack the current social status quo, like knife-wounds and others which touch on the boundaries of madness…

Human beings need compassion, the writer explains. To feel that they are not alone. It is also difficult for many people to find ways to express themselves. They need someone to do it for them…

The performance received awards at the 92 ART 2014 monologue festival, taking the 1st prize for script, performance, and direction as well as the spectators’ award.
