Saturday 22.02 // 11:00 15:00 [3 workshops]
Sunday 23.02 // 11:00 15:00 [3 workshops]

Hack The Day is a pop-up educational lab, introducing young people to science and technology through experimentation and play. Employing the methodologies of STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) and emerging from the Maker Movement ethics, the lab intends to stimulate young people’s imagination, creativity, curiosity through learning.

Hack The Day @ Michael Cacoyannis Foundation consists of six unique workshops over two-days, where young people, according to their age and interests, will have the opportunity to explore various topics, ranging from electronic circuits and conductivity, plants and sound, handcrafts and interactive visual narratives.

The workshops are led by a group of visual artists, architects, educators, sound artists and technologists who believe in multidisciplinary, open education. Through collaboration, experimentation and hands-on practice, Hack The Day aims to foster young people’s unique skills and competences within the contemporary cultural framework.

LED Painting Saturday 22.02, 11:00 15:00, ages 7-10

Learn about the basic principles of electricity and circuitry by building diy LED circuits. Participants will use their imagination to paint, not with paint and brushes, but with colorful LED lights and a camera lens!

E-Cards Saturday 22.02, 11:00 15:00, ages 7-10.

Learn about the basic principles of electricity and circuitry by creating unique interactive cards. Participants will decorate cards with brushes and conductive paint, while making a functioning circuit at the same time. The cards will eventually turn into a source of light and sound.

Music Plants Saturday 22.02, 11:00 15:00, ages 10 – 12.

Participants will create a unique orchestra in which the main instruments are plants. While discovering that plants and our physical bodies are conductors of electricity, they will learn how to make their own circuit to produce sound. They will compose their own music and improvise just by touching the plants!

Electric Tree Sunday 23.02, 11:00 15:00, ages 7 – 12
Learn about the basic principles of electricity and circuitry by creating unique light emitting structures using fruit! Participants will discover fruit as conductive material. Using paper crafts and basic electronics young makers will build a unique composition of glowing fresh fruit.

Solar Bots Sunday 23.02, 11:00 to 15:00, ages 7 – 10
Participants will create their own robots that use solar energy instead of batteries. Robots can be simple vehicles on wheels, crazy fans, or marker squiggle bots! Participants will be introduced to the basic principles of electricity, circuitry, solar energy and will learn to solder. At the end they will have a chance to create their own robotic character by dressing up their robots!

Color Sound Synthesis Sunday 23.02, 11:00 – 15:00, ages 7 – 10
We invite young people to compose a beautiful visual and sonic piece while working on a spatial choreography. Participants will create colorful props that produce sound through a colour-tracking system. They will discover how colour and movement can affect various sonic parameters and will be asked to join into a collective performance.

Registration is mandatory for the participants. Registrations will take place in turn of priority.
The number of participants is limited.

Information – Registrations at the Foundation’s Box Offices (206 Piraeus str. Tavros) Mon. – Fri. 11:00 – 14:00, tel. 210 3418 550 & 579
