Puppet theater “Antamapantahou”
“The boy with the magic fingers”
with an old grouching miller who drinks and drinks all day long.
Stratis is a kind and a hard worker boy,
actually the only one that really works.
He wants to become a violinist
like some virtuosos ones
The old miller didn’t like that
but he wanted him only to work hard.
But Stratis is not disappointed at all, he aims high,
and his will is so great that can reach the sky.
Muses and elves loved him at once
and helped him with their magic way.
So when Stratis started playing the violin,
all stood still and whispered:
“this boy has magic fingers indeed
and plays the violin like a virtuoso.
So, his reputation travelled to towns and villages and of course
the miller wasn’t indifferent at all…”
The performance
It is puppet theatre performance of puppets in different sizes and techniques (puppet with strings and Marot puppets), that uses story telling techniques combined with shadow theatre, while the scenery is continuously changing.
Puppet theater “Antamapantahou”
The laboratory of manufacture and puppet theater of puppet “antamapantahou” was established in 1992 by Nikos Tompros and Eleni Panagiotou at Vasilika of Northern Evoia in Greece. From 1994 onwards, it has been performing in the streets, theaters, schools and international festivals in Greece and Europe.
In 2002, it was commissioned by the Hellenic Culture Organization to tour in 8 cities in Greece and Cyprus, within the framework of the Cultural Olympiad Programme. Apart from its own productions, it has developed co-operative projects with outstanding Greek musicians and theater groups.
As an integral part of its overall policy, Antamapantahou organizes and delivers seminars and workshops for children and adults in the fields of puppet and marionette manufacture and puppet animation.
Antamapantahou working method combines a variety of Puppet Theater, pantomime and physical theater techniques. Its performances are being developed in a way that emphasizes on the relationship between the puppet and the puppeteer, always aiming to develop the puppet into a distinct and self-animated character.
