The caress as constant lack and quest, emerges throughout the book, which consists of twelve short stories, life pieces of the narrator’s childhood and adolescence, at an orphanage in Athens. The narrator, mature and sober now on, dares the blending of the present ant the past time, developing a peculiar detached memory technique, which allows him, through the cinematic visualization and the elliptical documentation, to dab – as a child and as adult- his real face.

Alexandros Stefanidis was born in 1962 in Piraeus. He studied at the School of Human Sciences of the Hellenic Open University at the Department of Greek Culture Studies. The caress is his first book.
