Culture: a cosmic tragedy (Dimitris Dimitriadis)

The universe falls apart, culture withdraws. Nothing anymore remains standing. The text entitled “Culture” by Dimitris Dimitriadis is pretence. An ultimate work of collapse and erosion. A commend to bereavement for our dead self.

Medea  of Euripides exists only as a memory, as theatrical convention, as poetic interference , ready to unveil the pretence. The faces of “Culture” are at that point of human history, where nothing is able to protect them against the exposure to cruelty of a prescribed and great end. Disarmed and sole, within an empty and lonely universe. In this “Culture” everything starts and rounds off with the words and the bodies as one. This one is everything.

The insuperable, the indispensable, the unremitting love challenges and is challenged. Afflicts and is afflicted. Becomes fierce and impatient. This is the only antidote to the conclusive pounding. This is our only chance.
