Sophia Voikou’s “Under the Shadow of Avgerinos”

Psychogyos Publishing invites you to a meeting with the writer Sophia Voikou, in the framework of her new book’s publication under the title: “Under the Shadow of Avgerinos” at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, on Tuesday 4th of June 2013, at 20:00.

The book will be presented by the writer Paschalia Traulou and the director Giorgis Kontopodis will read passages from the book.

Behind every great man, there is a great woman. But this statement seems to be reversed, when Tereza Volani -the student, model and love affair of the famous sculptor Angelos Avgerinos- is becoming a star. The teacher is falling from his pedestal and egoism is blinding him. The conflict is unavoidable.

Having Interwar Athens as a background, the book depicts a passionate affair in the decadence of the cabarets, though a journey from the apogee to the fall and the decline. Augerinos, Tereza, the androgynous Calypso, the neutral Anna and the frightened Themistocles, they will try to seize happiness. Is Tereza’s star going to rise under the shadow of Augerinos? }
