AN ENEMY IN SPRING!

The play of Sonia Zacharatou “My Enemy” is going to be presented at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation and directed by Dimitris Kantiotis, during 17th-19th and 24th-26th of May 2013, at 21:30.

The play is referring to the hostage conditions of a woman and her child, the conversations between her and her enemy and the relation that is born between them, in a night of death.

Apart from the emotional stress that is obvious during the play, the messages of the play have to do with the power abuse, the political violence, the revenge, the hate, but also with the forgiveness, the trust, the value of life and the need for loving.

It is a deeply human and anti-war play
that is developed in two parallel monologues about each character’s past wounds and future dreams. The theatrical text is full of beautiful depictions and the two enemies come closer through the unfolding of their memories. Simultaneously, the scenery of the terror is presented and the audience can witness how people can act and react during these harsh times.

“My Enemy” is an existential play and the characters have to fight against their inner self and their predetermined future.

The play is inspired by the tragic events of 2004 that happened at North Ossetia School, at Caucasus and where 385 people were killed, 186 children between them.
