“The Selfish Giant” by Puppetry Team “Ta Panta Phi”
“…Every evening, returning from school
The kids were going
At the Giant’s garden in order to play.
It was a great and beautiful garden.
When the Giant returned from his journey,
He asked the kids to go away and he built a wall
Made up from prohibitive signs.
But how can the most selfish giant
withstand Solitude and winter?”
The play is a revision of Oscar Wilde’s homonym fairy-tale.
“The Selfish Giant” presents the multiple aspects of egoism
contrary to ideas such as teamwork, friendship and joy.
During this play, we are witnessing
the Giant’s gradual transformation
from a selfish caricature into a human being.
