“Maranatha”

Novel by Thomas Psyrras,
Theatrical adaptation by D. Avdeliodis

with Yasemi Kilaidoni,
Theatre Hall

After three years of consecutive successful performances (2010-2012), Dimos Avdeliodis’ theatrical adaptation of “Maranatha” (which is based on the homonym Thomas Psyrras’ novel) with Yasemi Kilaidoni, it is going to be presented for one and only performance at Michael Cacoyannis Foudation Theatre Hall, on Friday 11th January 2013, at 21:00. That performance is going to be the beginning of the homage to Dimos Avdeliodis as a theatrical director.

Director’s note that accompanies the performance is stressing: Yasemi Kilaidoni through her tremendous three-hour acting, she incarnates all the characters that occur in a 90 years-old monk’s confession. After 65 years of omerta and just before dying, the monk narrates his life’s story and the cruel punishment to castration that was sentenced by his patron, after watching by incident secret rituals by nine women in Tarsa. That incident has revealed a whole new charming universe that has led him to love one of these women.

The inner motives of the play is the knowing of oneself through the knowing of the other and the limits of the personal will.
