“Flakes, drops, sunrays, airplanes and buckled leaves” by Puppet Theater Harhout (Christos Aftsidis)
Summary
Two leaves «buckle» and prepare to end their circle of life starting a thrilling happy dance which will end with a touching “fall” to the ground so that they become mulch and give life to their house of flowers.
But then man appears and collects them in order to clean up, depriving with this way their sequence within the circle of life. With similar ways man intrudes also in the drops, the snow flakes, even in the suns and sunrays beneficial affect to life. Creatures of the woods try in every way to remove the human interference from their space, wanting the 4 seasons naturally to supersede one another.
Purpose of this story
This year’s story tries to sensitize children concerning the human intervention to the eternal flow of nature. The scene with the two buckle leaves wants to touch while the scenes that follow after will show the circle of the four seasons and how creatures of the wood, as they have a first-hand relationship with the environment, do anything they can in order to “get rid” human recklessness.
20 puppets are participating and props: Dragon, baby dragon, Hippo, baby hippo, baby fish, baby frog, frog, horse, two sunrays, two drops, two leaves, a snow flake, North, Human, Airship of sunrays, the Boat of the North and the Cloud-boat of the Flake.
The performance is escorted with live music (harmonica).
