at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation

During the tour of the “Green Project in Europe: Athens – Northern Cape, on the roads of the energy interconnections between the North and the South”, that the non profit organization “Green Project Organization” will accomplish from the 28th of July to the 2nd of September 2012, the “Green Project 2012 Moving Exhibition” will travel along and it will be presented in cooperation with the local National Committees of UNESCO, in the 13 capitals of the countries of the tour: Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Denmark, Holland, England, France and Belgium.

The “Green Project 2012 Moving Exhibition” is a vehicle of understanding the different photographic depiction of the environment, in all its expressions. The photographers living and breathing through it, or by touching their deep thoughts, dreams and fantasies, they reveal to us a new way to approach it. Natural, industrial and urban scenery is displayed through different and diverse ways that reverberates also the range of this exhibition. The “Green Project 2012 Moving Exhibition” is a photographic journey of 14 Greek photographers that includes specimens of documentary and artistic photography, landscape photography and photography that comes from any other electronic means/device.

The exhibition is made under the supervision of the art historian Dr. Nina Kassianou and includes environmental photographs of the following Greek artists: Mirto Apostolidou, Georges Gerolimpos, Vangelis Georgas, Thalassini Douma, Dimitris Koilalos, Ilias Kosintas, Stefania Mizara, Ilias Mpourgiotis, Soula Palentza, Dimitris Rizos, Giannis Tzortzis, Chrysa Tsovili, Ilias Chatzakis, Simeon Chatzilidis, as well as from the photographic archive of the Public Company of Electricity (DEI).

The opening of the first presentation of the Moving Exhibition of Environmental Photography: “Green Project 2012” will take place on Thursday 26th of July, at 20:00, at the Cinema Hall at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.

During the tour of the “Green Project in Europe: Athens – Northern Cape, on the roads of the energy interconnections between the North and the South”, the exhibition will be open to the Greek audience with free entrance, at the Video Room in the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation in daily basis at 18:00 – 22:00 from 26/7 to 31/8/2012 (please have in mind that the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation will remain closed from 3/8 to 23/8/2012).

The Green Project Organization (GP) is a non profit organization that was founded in 2008 by the voluntary initiative of active citizens, scientists and artists for the realization of the “green photo journeys”, aiming at the awakening of the environmental consciousness through the art of photography. GP functions under the aegis of the Greek National Committee for UNESCO and has been awarded with the “Grand Prize for International Participation” at the “Festival del’ Image Environnementale 2010” in Paris, and the “Third Prize for the Clean Development Mechanism” at the “United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change 2012” in Cancun.
