“The Truth of the Mask” with Peter Meineck

Aquila Theatre founder and NYU professor Peter Meineck will lead a workshop entitled “The Truth of the Mask”. This participatory workshop will explore the tragic mask in performance, combining Aquila Theatre’s physical theatre techniques with Meineck’s research in cognitive studies, neuroscience and philosophy of the mind. Meineck believes that used properly, the mask in performance has the power to more expressive than the human face and can lead to deepening of the emotional responses of the spectator.

All are welcome, although the workshop is not suitable for children. Participants do not need to be actors or dancers, although artists may gain much from these techniques. Scholars, scientists, students and interested members of the public as well as performing artists are encouraged to attend and give feedback.

Please come dressed comfortably for movement. The workshop will be conducted in English with Greek translation.
