George Monemvassitis will preface the music programme
Music, Theater, Cinema. Three arts that are extremely popular and inextricably bound together. The Theater and the Music are harmoniously moving together since antiquity. The Cinema was born from the Theater and since its birth, it was seeking for the support of Music.
A special and charming program dedicated to music and songs composed for the Theater and the Cinema will be presented at the Black Box Hall of Michael Cacoyiannis on Sunday 1st of April 2012, at 20:00, and on Monday 2nd of April 2012, at 20:30.
The music and the songs will be performed by mezzo soprano Irene Karayianni and pianist Diana Vranoussi. Pictures will be projected during the performances. The program will be presented by the music critic and historian George Monemvassitis.
In the music for the Theater Manos Hadjidakis and Mikis Theodorakis meet Francis Poulenc and Kurt Weill, when the music for the Cinema brings together Nino Rota, Michel Legrand, Georges Auric, Maurice Jaubert, Dino Olivieri, Dario Marianelli, Ennio Morricone, Joseph Kosma, Louis Guglielmi, Yan Tiersen, Nicola Piovani and Henry Mancini with Greek and ecumenical Manos Hadjidakis.
