of the film by Yannis Ekonomidis

The Limassol (Lemesos) Theatrical Development Company, the first professional peripheral theatre of Cyprus presents in Athens from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th 2012, at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, the play “Matchbox”, which is the theatrically dramatized version of the famous film by Yannis Ekonomidis.

In particular, on Friday the 6th of April will take place a night performance at 21:30, on Saturday the 7th of April a double performance at 19:30 & 21:30, and on Sunday the 8th of April an evening performance at 19:30.

The home of Demetris, a 50-year-old family man living in Korydallos, is turned into a battlefield on a hot summer day, when the members of the family give in to an endless quarrel with one another, verbal abuse, revelations, confessions and disputes. Everything changes when an unexpected confession blows things out of proportion. It’s about the possibly disturbing drama of a middle-class family, living in a hopeless, grey world trapped in a “matchbox”.

The production is directed by Minas Tingilis, set and costumes by Edward Georgiou and lighting design by Panayiotis Manoussis.

Cast: Panayiotis Larkou, Lefteris Salomides, Vassiliki Kypreou, Yiannos Antoniou, Photis Georgides, Andria Zeniou, Maria Theocharidou and Elena Kallinicou.

ATTENTION: some language and scenes might be disturbing for some members of the audience.
