How talent can be trained and shaped, in which way it can follow norms and practices in order to come into fruition?
How interest and love for lyrics writing can be transformed into skill?
Which way someone can write lyrics for the music industry of nowadays?
Which is the knowledge and the training demanded?

Questions that every song writer meets in his or her first steps of their career are going to be answered in the line of the Lyrics Workshop, which is going to be hosted at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation from February 2012 aiming to an effective encounter with the lyrics, as these can be found in the practices of the nowadays music industry.

The workshop is an initiative of educational content under the supervision of Nikos Moraitis, of an acknowledged professional song writer, who since 1997 till today has 250 songs released in his career and a lot of collaborations with some of the most important persons of contemporary music industry.

The workshop is addressed to people, who write amateurishly lyrics or are just interested for lyrics in song writing, people who will have the opportunity of training and further discourse with the subject.

The program includes 12 2hour sessions, one per week, in which the art of lyrics writing is approached through the implementation of an interactive relationship among the group’s members, as well as through the practical approach of lyrics.

The Sessions Include:
•    Lyrics analysis of acknowledged song writers, not exclusively through a theoretical perspective, however mainly on the basis of their place in the Greek repertoire.
•    Group’s discussions about lyrics written by the members.
•    Trials of the group’s members to write lyrics on music parts that will be given by cooperating composers.
•    Assignments in separated groups, having as subject the work of great song writers.
•    Guest lectures of important music industry persons like song writers, composers, singers, album producers, executives of record labels and radio producers.
