Their support for the creation of the film offered the Hellenic Association for the Study and Control of AIDS and the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control as well as the NGOs “Positive Voice”, “Kentro Zois”, “PRAKSIS”. The film approaches routine stories of persons who live with HIV virus, and places, at the same time, concerns, initiating a dialogue that everyone should take part in, considering the disease of our century as well as the increasing infections in our country.
We do consider it a necessary part of the education, the mention to the dangers for the health that can emerge from sexual relationships and this is why we believe that is more than essential to present a film to youngsters, in order, through their awakening, to adopt, when being youngsters as well as when they will be adults in the future, healthy and safe behavior, which protect and improve the health standards of their life. This is where the educational value of the film lies. With a clean way of monitoring, highlights the importance of the problem, without terrifying, it approaches the subject with a dynamic modern view, with all the discretion that is appropriate and the proper care. It does not focus just on the tragic side of the issue but includes human behaviors, which anyways vary depending on the occasions. Informs and points out that prevention and change of habits are the basic way to face the virus.
The statistics are unfortunately worrisome and highlight the consequences from the lack of information and aware. A recent research by the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control monitors a unique bout of the virus in Greece, with the number of the young infected persons to double comparing to last year. The same research highlights that infections have been increased 53% and especially for persons who belong to social vulnerable groups, this percentage rises to 1260%! A reality that does not explain the complacency. Considering those recent statistics regarding the Aids, let’s not shut our ears to the alarm bell ringing right next to us.
Following the film screening, if you wish so, it is possible to organize a short discussion with the students of your school and representatives of the NGOs “Positive Voice”, “Kentro Zois”, “PRAKSIS”.
