FINGER INTO THE MARK OF THE NAILS – A story telling through pictures about Alexandros Papadiamantis 100 years after

On the occasion of 2011 anniversary, 100 years after the passing of Alexandros Papadiamantis, the performance “The American”, a dramatized narration by Thanasis Sarantos, as well as the non-professional work by a company of students from the National Theatre Drama School encountering the Christmas story “The Moonstruck”, directed by Maritina Passari, are accompanied by a parallel exhibition with black white pictures, taken with traditional methods by Gerasimos Neofytos. It is a photographic story telling for Alexandros Papadiamantis 100 years following his passing.

The exhibition includes 15 frames of 50×70 sizes, pictures from the Album “Finger into the Mark of the Nails” that has been released in July 2011 by the Eurasia Publications. Gerasimos Neofytos has firstly been introduced to the wide audience with his extensive photographical work on the shooting for the film “Nyfes” by Pantelis Voulgaris. Then the photographic illustration of the Greek custom “Genitsaroi and Mpoules” from the Naousa city followed, while in 2008 has been also released by Eurasia Publications the photo – album “Zambia” based on the journey to Zambia he had along with the Doctors Sans Frontiers.

The particular exhibition for Papadiamantis has already been presented in Skiathos Island, at the House – Museum Alexandros Papadiamantis, with the contribution of the Municipality of Skiathos, in parallel with the 3rd International Symposium for Papadiamantis, in September 2011.

The exhibition comes along with a book/ Album “Finger into the Mark of the Nails”, Photographic narration for Alexandros Papadiamantis 100 years later, by Gerasimos Neofytos, which is available at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation Shop for those interested.

The universe around Alexandros Papadiamantis is strongly depicted not only in the history and civilization of the island of Skiathos, but also as a whole in all aspects of the modern Greek culture. In the  project of Gerasimos Neofytos 110 black and white pictures are included. All taken and printed trough traditional methods of photography through lengths of 50 mm.
