FROM MINIMUS TO MAXIMUS

FROM MINIMUS TO MAXIMUS

After the success of the three sold-out Shigeru Umebayashi’s concerts in Athens in December 2010, OTICONS returns at the MCF with one new concert dedicated to film music.

The six soloists of the OTICONS ENSEMBLE will perform some of the most famous film music themes of the last fifty years, in a repertoire arranged from scratch by the Ensemble’s co-founder and pianist, Kostas Kakouris. The concept “From Minimus to Maximus” represents the variety of compositional approach by some of the most distinguished film music composers of this genre. Angelo Badalamentis “Twin Peaks”, Philip Glass’ “Hours” and Yann Tiersen’s “Amelie” are only few of the themes that represent the “Minimus” section of the concerts, while the immortal soundtrack themes of “The Exorcist” and “The Godfather”, “E.T”, “The Gladiator” and “The Lord of the rings” will be part of the 2nd part, named “Maximus”.

Moreover, there will be performed piano pieces for four hands from Peter Greenaway’s films, as well as original compositions for the cinema and television by Kostas Kakouris.

The experienced soloists of OTICONS ENSEMBLE have overall appeared live in more than 500 gigs in both Greece and abroad.
