CHAMBER MUSICIANS

CHAMBER MUSICIANS

Stefanos Tsakiris presents a selection of black white portraits of musicians at an exhibition that is being officially opened in March 28th at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation. The exhibition, entitled Chamber Musicians, is the photographer’s personal view on the nomads, musicians in the city of Thessaloniki.

During the official opening, music performance will take place by the trio entitled “Family Affair”.

Shhhhh! Can you hear the music???

On the background, just below the horns at Tsimiski street, the sounds of the breaks on Egnatia street and the voices of Ermou street, sometimes, at some corners of Aristotelous square, a saxophone sounds, or a guitar. Unprecedented to the ears, strange… If only wouldn’t that were so strange. Sometimes, we do smile touching those strains of joy, strains doubly stronger than the ordinary ones, since they manage to be heard, not only at a silent chamber, but even through the noises of the city. Don’t you smile?

For a moment, I see colors on the cement, smell precious perfumes in the trash, taste home-made food at fast-food restaurants, and hear music from the streets… Just like that, for psychological reasons.

Tsakiris recorded some of the strains of the city of Thessaloniki. Strains that come from various places of the world and make you believe for a moment that you are in a chamber filled with melodies.
