In the line of the festive tribute to the 75th death anniversary of the great Spaniard poet, Federico Garcia Lorca, the Greek stage director, Yannis Iordanidis, is going to present on February 7th 2011, at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, the performance “The Last Day” that is based on texts of Lorca himself, as well as Rafael Martinez Nadal and refers to the last moments of the poet’s life in Madrid, just a few days before his dramatic murder.
Yannis Iordanidis apart from the direction administers the dramaturgic elaboration of the particular theatrical play as well, while stage scenery and costumes are designed by Yannis Metzikof, music is composed by Thodoris Ekonomou and lights are designed by Melina Mascha. Two main parts are featured by Othon Metaxas and Orestis Sofokleous.
During the second part of the performance, Yiorgis Christodoulou will sing, accompanied by Michael Sourvinos, Lorca’s poems set to music.
Master Class: “Despair and Violence in Blood Wedding” by Yannis Iordanidis
In the line of the particular tribute, the stage director Yannis Iordanidis will address a Master Class on the subject: “Despair and Violence in Blood Wedding” (four 5hour seminars – workshops) for young actors and Drama Schools students. He is going to teach, using practical application, a contemporary acting approach on the parts of the “Blood Wedding” unveiling another dimension of the play that longs for correspondences to nowadays.
The Master Class will take place on Saturday 12th, Sunday 13th & Saturday 19th, Sunday 20th of February 2011 (from 12:00 until 17:00). Information – Registrations at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.

Yannis Iordanidis – Greek Stage Director
Born in Egypt, Cairo. Theatre Studies in Greece (Costis Michailides Drama School) and France (University of Sorbonne: Institute for Theatre Studies and Modern Greek Studies). Over the course of his 30 year career, he has staged more than 85 productions in Greece, France, Germany, Cyprus and he has participated in International Theater Festivals. He has directed plays by the most important playwrights of classic and contemporary dramaturgy for both national and private theaters. Moreover, he has repeatedly directed opera productions at the Greek National Opera and elsewhere. As a drama teacher he has worked at state and private drama schools in Greece and abroad. He has translated classic and contemporary plays. In France, he was awarded the Golden Medal by the International Academy of Paris; he has also received awards and honors for his lifetime achievement in theatre, while in 2009 he was honored with the Alexander the Great award for his contribution to theatre and culture.
