Breath is a text of Samuel Beckett, written in response to Kenneth Tynan’s request for a contribution to his review «Oh! Calcutta». In one moving image and in two sounds Beckett compressed not only his philosophy, but also his total theatre universe. The only two events in a man’s life are his birth and his death. The time between them is a ‘moving’ static image. It’s an image of a landscape. The constant observation of which results in the gradually consciousness of its details. This is that gives us the illusion of facts’ sequence. However, in the final review they are reported as insignificant and commonplace.

This short play composes the canvas for our production «Breath».

The other shorter plays of Samuel Beckett that we use in our performance are developing with the same speculation, like concentric circles.

In A piece of Monologue, a life like the memories of a landscape, a blank wall full of spots left from the photos that used to be there, an old lamp and the memory of «he all but said of loved ones ». It’s about a man or about a human in the deep dark.

In Rockaby, from the cradle when we are babies until the rocking chair that we use in the age of maturity, there is a searching «for another». It is not a conviction the shortage and it is not harsh neglect this absence. However for the ontological Beckett this is the nature of all things.

In Come and Go, three women describe in 125 words their common past, their agony about the future and their faith in eternal friendship.
Performed by: Georgia Agonsilio, Konstantina Klapsinou, Vasso Morfiadaki

In Cascando, there is an Opener and a voice. We attend the creator’s agony about a story, which might be his own mental peace of mind. In our performance the two roles are two women in a piano concert. Following all the process of a concert they fight trying to escape from their own immaterial work.
Performed by: Hilda Iliopoulou and Tatiana Papamoshou
