“50 Years Cyprus of Love”
The Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus, the “House of Cyprus” in cooperation with Michael Cacoyannis Foundation and the Limassol-Cyprus Literary Society give a concert of melodious poems about love by Cypriot poets of the 1960-2010 era in the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Republic of Cyprus.
The concert embraces 32 of the most beautiful love poems of the most famous Cypriot poets set in music by Cypriot composers. The Limassol-Cyprus Literary Society puts on an epic production with many references and projections regarding the poets’ and the composers’ lives, as well as the stitches of the songs that will be presented. The show consists of a choir, 7 solists, a ballet and an orchestra.
The poets that will be presented are:
Middle War Generation: Glaukos Alithersis, Giannis Leukis, Tefkros Anthias, Paulos Krinaios, Antis Pernaris, Puthagoras Drousiotis, Lefteris Giannidis, Anthos Rodinis, Euagoras Pallikaridis.
Post War Generation: Nikos Kranidiotis, Kostas Montis, Pantelis Michanikos, Kypros Chrisanthis, Theoklis Kougialis, Andreas Pastellas, Nikow Orfanidis, Pitsa Galazi, Vasiliki Fotiou, Nasa Patapiou, Androula Toumazou – Kalogeropoulou, Mona Savvidou – Theodoulou, Vasos Venizelos, Dimitris Gotsis, Pampo, Konstantina Leonidou, Marios Vourgos, Violeta Kakomanoli.
Among the composers who put the poems in music are Marios Tokas, Achilleas Limpourides, Anastasia Guy, Costas Cacoyiannis, Andreas Charalampous, Siroun Yenovkian ect.
