Michael Cacoyannis Foundation in partnership with the Polish Embassy in Athens presents a concert dedicated to the great Polish composer, Frederick Chopin.  On the occasion of the 200th birth anniversary and participating in celebrating events that take place globally for the Chopin Year 2010, in Cultural Center’s Theatre Hall will take place a concert by Filip Wojciechowski Jazz Trio entitled as ‘Swinging Chopin’.

 

Filip Wojciechowski Jazz Trio

 

Started up in 1989 entitled as ‘Central Heating Trio’, the Trio entered music world winning awards, distinctions and acclaim in Jazz competitions, in Poland as well as abroad. The group has numerous recordings and performed concerts in Poland as well as abroad. The most significant lives, among others, were: a tour in Germany, participation in Bratislava Jazz Days in Slovakia, as well as in ‘Tribute to Miles’ Jazz Jamboree, in Festival of Jazz Pianists in Kalisz in Poland and in Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad in Switzerland. The Group recorded in 2000 the album ‘Classic Jazz’, presenting classical music in original transcriptions by Wojciechowski, for the German recording company Sachsiche Tontrager. In 2003, a new album was recorded, entitled as ‘Romantic meets jazz’ for the Polish company Dux including as special guest, Robert Majewski on the trumpet. Wojciechowski, as a jazz pianist, has already performed in Zbigniew Namyslowski quartet, as well as with Krzesimir Debski, Urszula Dudziak, Gary Guthman, Richard Galliano andBob Wilber.

Their latest album – project, entitled as ‘Swinging Chopin’ is dedicated to the 200th birth anniversary of the great Polish composer Frederick Chopin (1810 – 1849).
