Fest of Fests. International Network for Youth Film Festivals
Fest of Fests is the latest initiative by the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation in Athens, co-funded by Greece and Europe within the framework of the Regional Operational Programme (ROP) for Attica. Fest of Fests is a new and dynamic platform which is both informative and developmental, aimed at the support and benefit of young filmmaking.
64 experts from 24 countries will be visiting Athens.
Athens is set to be meeting point for experts and professionals alike whose common goal is the promotion of youth and children’s cinema, worldwide.
The first annual meeting will take place at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation on the 25 – 28 of July 2018, hosting 64 personalities from 24 countries. The participants include Directors and Organizers of Children’s & Youth Film Festivals, Heads of Educational Institutions, Directors of Film Centres, Academics and teachers, producers and directors from France, Germany, the U.K., Spain, Italy, Serbia, Croatia, Sweden, India, Iran, Canada, the U.S, and Brazil. The meeting is focused upon setting the foundations to launch Youth Cinema into tomorrow. In an age which counts 450 international festivals for youth cinema and 3.000 film festivals for adult filmmakers – many of which also have a young artist category – the need is obvious to create an interactive link in the form of an ongoing international educational forum for the exchange of ideas and experience. The aim of this action is to create an environment that will assist in the development of an informed, critical thinking and emancipated viewer, in other words, a “smart” viewer.
SCREENWISER Digital Platform
Screenwiser: Get to know the network platform for online cooperation, for the “smart” viewer (http://sceenwiser.com)An important tool for the success of Fest of Fests and its purpose is the online 4th generation digital platform, Screenwiser. The platform has set up a community within a social media structure where the user is able to:
Cover all needs pertaining to global social networking, data access and access to learning and creative tools (workshops, seminars etc).
Develop synergies and co operations in real time.
Access information and activity mapping regarding cinematic and audiovisual education involved in the development of the “smart” viewer.
Meet other members or groups and share creative, fresh ideas.
Locate appropriate festivals and develop informative and educational co operations.
The design and implementation of the Screenwiser platform was awarded via competitive tender by the AIT- Athens Information Technology (www.ait.gr) in order to support the creation, development and international promotion of a dynamic ecosystem within the field of youth cinema and audiovisual education. The interactive platform, Screenwiser, uses advanced WEB and Social Media services, its central focus being upon the communities of base users who will utilize its services in order to communicate, connect and collaborate, as well as for informative and educational purposes (both to be educated and to educate) and finally for exposure and self-promotion. The platform ensures that this ecosystem remains active and creative by providing content which is current and rich along with a pleasant user experience via well designed functions and services which are easily accessible to anyone at anytime in any corner of the Earth where there is an Internet connection.
Annual International Meetings
Along with the dynamic platform, Screenwiser, which represents the most technologically advanced method of promoting Youth Cinema, Fest of Fests’ actions will also include annual international meetings in Athens, in the presence of influential personalities and professionals alike.
