“THE BIRTH OF THE WORLD…AND STORIES OF THE GODS OF OLYMPUS”

A play about the birth of the world but also known and unknown tales of the Gods of Olympus. Tales woven by the ancient Greeks and their poets. With the thought in mind that most of us would like to enjoy the beauty of ancient myths as we might enjoy a fairytale, we’ll take things from the beginning…..and start something like this….

– What did the ancient Greeks truly believe? How was the world born?

– According to Hesiod, epic poet of ancient Greece, in very very old times there was nothing of what we see around us today. There was only CHAOS!!!!! Many years passed before the creation of….the EARTH and the SEA!!!

At some point, out of the CHAOS, came a little creature with gold wings. It was LOVE!!!And then, above the earth, came the SKY!!! When the Earth felt the shadow of the sky above it, it thought: “I like the way the sky embraces me…

I will marry it”. And so it began. And slowly but surely, as in a fairytale, we finally arrive….at the birth of ZEUS!!!

From that point onwards the children will have the opportunity to witness fabled as well as unknown tales of mythology come alive before them: PROMETHEUS AND EPIMETHEUS, the SNAKE and the DONKEY, DEUCALION and PYRRHA, ZEUS and HERRA, the battle between POSEIDON and ATHENA, POSEIDON and AMPHITRITE, HYPHAESTUS and HERA, DEMETER and PERSEPHONE’S ABDUCTION, APOLLO and the ORACLE OF DELPHI, APOLLO and DAPHNE, ARTEMIS, the birth of HERMES, ARES, APHRODITE and ANCHISES and more…

All of the above stories, which have been thoroughly studied and well documented, and which are full of humour (for, as we know, the ancient Greek gods bore all the flaws of men), and connected in an intelligent and easy to understand way, create a performance with attention to detail and with the aim of enchanting the young spectator.
