LANDFALL – From Lesvos to Idomeni

23 May, Athens, Greece. LANDFALL – From Lesvos to Idomeni, the story of Greek volunteers on the frontline of the refugee response, will premier at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation on 23 May 2017 at 19:00-21:00.

The film follows the emotional stories of Elli, Katerina and Stelios, three volunteers who meet refugees as they arrived to Lesvos freezing, exhausted and disorientated, and later in Idomeni as refugees became stranded at the border.

Theshort documentary is directed by Daphne Tolis and produced by Sub.Urban Images and Soundscapes, the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, together with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations.

The panel that will follow the screening of the documentary, will discuss on why Greek communities have, by and large, maintained such generosity toward migrants and refugees, where other EU countries have not, and what support do Greeks need to continue this now that migrants and refugees could be in Greece for many years to come.
