Five Thursdays dedicated to cinema prompted by Manousos Manousakis OUZERI TSITSANIS” | Screenings of the film & Discussions

The Michael Cacoyannis Foundation in cooperation with Feelgood Entertainment and the director Manousos Manousakis will be dedicating five Thursdays to Cinema, prompted by the film “Ouzeri Tsitsanis” an OTE TV coproduction. The film screenings will take place alongside discussions on varying topics between directors, writers, composers, actors, producers, distributors, journalists, scientists as well as the viewers and those interested in the next steps of Greek Cinema. And so, the Thursdays in February along with the first Thursday in March will be dedicated to five different topics which are touched upon in the film “Ouzeri Tsitsanis”.

Starting out on Thursday 4 February 2016, at 19:00, with the first topic entitled “Notes and Frames:  Music and Cinema” with the participation of Manousos Manousakis, Themis Karamouratidis, Georgos Hatzinasios, Michalis Repas, Thodoris Marantinis (ONIRAMA), Thansis Polikandriotis, Nikos Katsikis, coordinated by Lina Nikolakopoulou and continuing on Thursday 11 February 2016 with the topic “From the Pen to the Big Screen: In the beginning was the Word” with the participation of Giorgos Skampardonis, Giannis Xanthoulis, Olga Malea, Petros Tatsopoulos, Giorgos Tsemperopoulos, Lena Divani, Vasilis Spiliopoulos, Manousos Manousakis.

The first two topics concern the two main sources of inspiration for the film, which was based upon the homonymous novel by George Skampardonis and greatly influenced by Vasilis Tsitsanis’ early creative period. On Thursday 18 February 2016, an attempt will be made to deconstruct the characters of the story through a discussion entitled “Passion – Ethos  – Intolerance: The Soul of Protagonists”, whilst on Thursday 25 February 2016 we have “True Stories surrounding the Film:  Reality and the Image”. The cycle of events will close on Thursday 3 March 2016, at 18:00 with the topic “Greek Cinema: The Modern Odysseus, the image travels. Development and Culture” and the film will be shown with English subtitles.

Apart from the aforementioned Thursdays (every Thursday at 19:00 except for Thursday 3 March which will be at 18:00), the film “Ouzeri Tsitsanis” will be shown on the weekends in February 2016 and on the first weekend of March at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, on Saturdays at 18:00 and Sundays at 17:00.
