The great festival of contemporary dance returns for a second year in Michael Cacoyannis Foundation. From April 24th until May 6th, 2015 the members of the Association of Greek Choreographers will present us the trends in the Greek scene, through the most representative creations – “shots” (duration of 10 – 30 minutes). In the 14th Dance Festival spectators will have the opportunity, with a single-day ticket, to attend from two to five short projects created by the most active, talented, young but also older acclaimed choreographers, covering the entire spectrum of modern Greek dance.

Notable this year is the celebration of the International Dance Day on April 29th, dedicated exclusively to the younger generation – the graduates from Higher Vocational Schools of Dance. The Greek Choreographers Association in cooperation with the Greek Department of the International Dance Council CID UNESCO, organize as part of the Festival, a symbolic event which honors education and underlines its importance. For a consecutive year, three honorary awards will be awarded to senior participants: Best Female Dancer, Best Male Dancer and Best Choreography.

 

The Dance Festival will also be held in Thessaloniki from 18th to 20th of May, where the Greek Choreographers Association will be hosted in the Athenaeum theater for 3 days of modern dance with the participation of: Group Trigono- Danae Christakakou, Faschia & Dance and the mind- Rodoula Gkouliamperi, L .reducta dance project – Xanthippi Papadopoulou, B + 6- Veronica Raker, Marisa Vinieratou, Pas.Par.Tu. – Sophia Mantis, Nemeldia- Rania Pouliou, OFF ART- Roula Karaferi, AlmaKalma- John Mitrou, Aniline Dancetheatre- Alexander Gountinakos, Animotus- Helen wool, forever EN flow-Helen Kavazidou, Ssvema Dance Co – Helen Gougoutsa.

 

Greek Choreographers in spite of the difficult times persist with hope, enthusiasm and creative mood. For one more year they invite the friends of dance and art to celebrate, enjoy and learn about the contemporary greek dance creativity in the Dance Festival, completing 14 years of continuous presence and offer.
