The concept of “motion” has been an important factor in the progression of culture worldwide. Today, programs -European and otherwise -, international festivals and networks of cultural and artistic exchange are being created and are developing at great speeds. This, combined with technological advancement and a broadening cultural tendency for travel, exploration and activity within artistic fields is not only a dominating trend but also a portal to new horizons and prospects.
Many contemporary dance ensembles in Greece and Cyprus, communicating through the common language of dance, have already started their journey into the world. Taking part in international events and presenting their works in other countries, many times returning home with significant distinctions.
During the Young Cypriot Choreographers’ Platform “barefeet days”, choreographers and dancers from Cyprus and Greece will sit at the table for an interesting open discussion regarding their experiences in foreign countries, what they gained from their studies in schools and with ensembles abroad, the presentation of their works to foreign institutions and Festivals and also networking methods on an international level.
The discussion entitled “Communication with the International Dance Scene, in motion” will take place on Thursday 5 June 2014 at 18:00 at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.
Participating artists are (in alphabetical order): Elena Antoniou, Jenny Argyriou, Alexis Vassiliou, Maria Kollipoulou, Harry Koushos, Milena Ugren Koula.
