ALL I-S by Soyuz Dance Company

Inspired by Beckett’s “Rockaby”, the dance performance explores individuality when, in a social coexistence, it can deprive the collective communication and happiness.

Five characters in absolutely identical paths, trapped within defined social identities, imprisoned within a commonly accepted scheme of coexistence, seek their own personal “I” to articulate it again, seek to share the “we” – but remain frightened and silently choose their personal prison of loneliness.

At the same time, a female figure, while moving along on stage, expresses through her movement, Beckett’s “Rockaby”, as the frustration of searching for contact.

All “I-S” are seeking communication desperately, remaining however so entrapped in their personal prisons, that the interaction seems an impossible utopia. And violence seems the only way of survival for everyone.
