Alkistis – Alexia Vourna, a young artist is a graduate of the Athens School of Fine Arts. She is expressed on the canvas using the vocabulary of the abstract expressionism. She embraces the influences she had by significant representatives of this artistic movement, where she mainly derives her plastic language. She works the painting surface of her artworks using the material, the paint paste, in a way that evokes the vision with the wide outlines and the numerous layers. In the majority of her artworks exists the explosive, luminous and vivid red.

As Mark Rothko used to say (1903-1970), the color is a soul’s window. The impressing motion and density characterize her artworks. This way the intensity of their energy is transcended to the receivers. Klee mentions in 1915, referring to Worringer’s opinion, “The more horrifying this world becomes, the more art becomes abstract?”.

Abstraction helps Alkistis to ordinate her visual tools along with her emotional bents and her spiritual quests. Her artworks transpire a sense of freedom, however they disclose her psychical ups and downs.
