Michael Cacoyannis Foundation begins a new activity concerning special practical seminars for the aesthetics of the image and its creative use in cinema.

The seminars will be organized indoors or outdoors – during daytime and nightime- in places where a film can be gradually created. The students will have the opportunity to select or write their own scripts and they can shoot short films as well.

There will be lessons about: the use and the techniques lighting, the usage of lenses, transparent leaves and various mediums for creating a cinematic atmosphere and the secrets of the camera. Through these special seminars, the students can see how the cinema-industry works and knowledge, experience and aesthetics are offered to them.  

The seminars are addressed to people of all ages and professions. Their importance is great, especially for the graduated students from Cinema Schools.  

Prokopis Dafnos is the instructor and creator of these seminars, who is an accomplished, experienced and award-winning cinematographer. After 35 years of creative presence in cinema, Mr. Dafnou keeps dealing with the art of camera by shooting documentaries and teaching cinematography. His outstanding lessons on cinematography at New York College had as reward the distinction of his students’ dissertation films in international film festivals.

The first meeting will take place at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, on Monday the 21st of October 2013, at 19.30, where the analytical program of the seminars is going to be presented.

Seminars’ Duration: 4 months, 4 hours per week (64 hours).
Monthly cost of the seminars: 120€
