Official Opening: Monday 10th of June 2013, at 19:00
On Monday 10th of June 2013, at 19:00, the Regional Sector of Southern Athens presents the second Photography Exhibition under the title: “Road Photography” at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.
Snapshots that were taken from the everyday life of Southern Athens. Figures on the road, kids in the parks, people waiting for the tram, gazes at the beach. The camera lens captures: the small details on great canvas, the formations of the shadows, the colors on the walls, the tension of cars and buildings. It magnifies the invisible, gives perspective to greatness and captures the things that are unnoticed by many.
“Road Photography” was the topic of the second Photographic Competition by the Regional Sector of Southern Athens. And just as an old Greek song tells us: “the Road has its own story”, amateur photographers walked the roads of Southern Athens in searching for this color or black-and-white story. Their technical equipment was simple, professional or mobile phone cameras.
The jury was consisted by the well-known press-photographers Giannis Bechrakis, Nikos Pilos and Iakovos Chadjistavrou and they selected 35 photographs that are going to be exhibited. There was also a distinction for the photographs by: Kostas Yavis, Maria Kappatou, Charis Panayotakopoulos and Socrates Baltayannis.
